Dr. Foday Moriba Jaward (Ph.D), Associate Professor Environmental & Occupational Health
Dr Foday Moriba Jaward is an accomplished academic who holds a PhD in Environmental Science from Lancaster University, United Kingdom (2004); a Master of Science in Environmental Science and Technology (with distinction) from IHE/Utrecht University, Netherlands (1996) and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Chemistry from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone (1991).
Dr. Jaward has over 30 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He has served as Principal and Co-Principal Investigator in many research projects including: “Creating a critical mass of expertise and infrastructure in Iraq towards a national surveillance system of persistent organic pollutants” and “Sustainable clean water technologies for the UN’s Millennium Development Goals.
Up to his appointment, he’s an Associate Professor (with tenure) in the Dept. of Environmental and Occupational Health, College of Public Health, University of South Florida, USA. He has served as Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Dept. of Environmental and Natural Science in Lancaster University, UK.
In terms of serving in his home country, Dr. Foday M. Jaward had also lectured at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Njala University College from 1996 – 2000. He was an Acting Head of Department at the Department of Chemistry in Njala University (1998-2000). While transmitting knowledge at the Njala University, he taught Environmental, Analytical, Organic, Physical, Inorganic, Spectroscopy and Bio-organic Chemistry and practical at graduate and undergraduate levels. He participated in national science curriculum development activities and served as resource person for environmental issues as well as represented the University at conferences/meetings on environmental issues.
Dr. Jaward is happily married, with children.
