The Environment Protection Agency, in partnership with the UNDP Accelerator Lab, has kicked off the Green Solutions Innovators Bootcamp to train finalists in generating approved solutions for sustainable development

In a ceremony held at the Tunde Cole Building on Fourah Bay College Campus, Mount Aureol, a team of senior staff from the agency, the UNDP, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Fourah Bay College and core staff, and all twenty-two finalists, the bootcamp will be held for five days to train the young innovators on the required knowledge and skills to enhance their approved business models geared towards addressing the environmental themes of the Green Solutions Innovation Challenge.

Professor Kolleh Gbawuru Mansaray, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Fourah Bay College and the boot camp’s host, is one of the key speakers. He congratulated all twenty-two finalists and participants who embraced the Green Solutions Innovation Challenge.

He defined environmental difficulties as critical concerns that necessitate immediate action, such as their desire to join in such a project. He admonished them to use their innovation and passion not just to win the Green Solutions Challenge, but also to contribute to the global effort to achieve sustainable green solutions.

Akinyemi Scott-Boyle, Head of Solution Mapping at UNDP Accelerator Lab, also encouraged all twenty-two finalists to view the boot camp as a training space where they will be able to showcase their ideas as well as a pool of networking opportunities for investors who may be interested in their ideas.

The purpose of the boot camp is to offer the best pitch desk for the perfect business idea, and the platform is yours to use, he explained.

The Executive Chairman of the Environment Protection Agency, Dr Abu-Bakar Massaquoi, praised UNDP and FBC as partners, as well as the twenty-two finalists who are poised to be kept as partners in the EPA’s youth-led innovative drive.

The EPA is thrilled by the enthusiasm demonstrated by the youth who participated and presented their unique ideas. Your innovation is vital in addressing our environmental challenges. With youths serving as key change agents, there is optimism that your expertise in community-based solutions, such as renewable energy and waste management, can help our country achieve sustainable development

This boot camp provides an opportunity to help bring your ideas to life, and it is consistent with the EPATS, UNSDGs, NMTDP, and UNDP Country Plans.

He closed by asking them to apply what they will learn to inspire others in their communities and form long-term partnerships.

We are committed to supporting your inventive spirit by providing networking, funding, and coaching, he assured.
We wish everyone a successful bootcamp experience.
